Twohig Hits 89 But College Gain Three Wicket Success

Malvern College First X1 achieved a three wicket win over a visiting Worcestershire Academy X1 in a 40 over match.

Former Malvern College pupil Ben Twohig top-scored with 89 for the Academy who totalled 172-6 after being put into bat.

But the College reached their target with seven balls to spare with Jack Haynes and Dan Holland making sizeable contributions with the bat.

Academy skipper Twohig opened and hit 12 fours in his 103 ball knock before he was finally dismissed in the 39th over.

But his side were made to work hard for their runs by the College bowlers.

Jack Haynes gave another glimpse of his potential in hitting 40 off 53 balls with six fours when launching the College reply.

He put on 60 for the second wicket with Callum Lea (21).

Holland then ensured the College reached the winning line by making an unbeaten 32 off 57 deliveries.

Charlie Greening (3-36) was the most successful Academy bowler.
