Two Wickets For Worcestershire Star Moeen As England Level Odi Series

Moeen Ali picked up two key wickets as England levelled the ODI Series against New Zealand with a six wicket success at Mount Maunganui.

The Worcestershire all-rounder dismissed opener and half century-maker Martin Guptill and Tom Latham.

He finished with the impressive figures of 10-0-33-2 with New Zealand indebted to an unbeaten 63 from Worcestershire 2015 and 2016 T20 Blast signing Mitchell Santner.

But England made light of their target as Eoin Morgan (62), Ben Stokes (63 not out) and Jos Buttler (36 not out) saw them home with 12.1 overs to spare.

Moeen came into the attack at 61-3 in the 19th over and bowled his allocation straight through.

He struck in his third over as Guptill (50) went for a powerful sweep and holed out to Jason Roy who took a fine low catch at deep mid wicket.

Moeen broke through again in his sixth over as Latham (22) looked to cut a delivery but ended up top edging a catch to Tom Curran at short third man.

When Moeen came out of the attack, the Black Caps had been reduced to 150-8 before Santner’s late hitting led a partial recovery.

*Joe Clarke was dismissed for a duck as England Lions were bowled out for 102 on day two of the third ‘Test’ against West Indies ‘A’ in Antigua.
