TWO WICKETS FOR STANLEY AS SECONDS END T20 CAMPAIGN AT CHESTER ROAD

Worcestershire Seconds went down by seven wickets to their Glamorgan counterparts in their final match of the 2021 SET20 competition at Chester Road, Kidderminster.

Club Captain Joe Leach, who skippered the Seconds on this occasion, opted to bat, but a total of 154-9 was below par.

Several players made promising starts, but no one was able to make a substantial contribution.

Paceman Mitchell Stanley picked up two wickets for the Seconds, but a knock of 70 from opener Steve Reingold saw Glamorgan to victory with two overs to spare.

Openers Tom Fell and Josh Dell (12) put on 38 in 4.3 overs in a decent start to the Worcestershire innings before the latter holed out to cover off Callum Taylor.

Fell and Jacques Banton, fresh from signing a rookie contract for the remainder of the summer, lifted the total to 69-1 in the ninth over.

But then Fell, having made 35 off 26 balls, went for a drive and was caught behind off Taylor while Banton (21) went for a big hit off Lukas Carey and found long-on.

Keeper Alex Milton (12) was caught at cover, and Leach (14) picked out deep mid-wicket.

Only Daryl Mitchell of the remaining batsmen, made a sizeable contribution with 32 from 27 balls before he went for a cut and was caught at backward point.

Taylor finished with 2-26 from four overs.

Left-arm spinner Josh Baker took the new ball and bowled a tidy first over, and Stanley made the first breakthrough for Worcestershire with 39 on the board when Sam Pearce (16) picked out cover.

Taylor (17) added 50 with Reingold before he tried to reverse sweep Baker and popped up a simple catch for Milton at 89-2.

Reingold made 70 off 49 balls with four sixes and four fours until he tried to cut Stanley and gave Milton another catch. Pat Brown bowled three overs for 41 on his return from injury.
