Worcestershire Under-17s went down by 33 runs when they visited their Somerset counterparts for a Royal London Cup Group 4A encounter
Somerset totalled 170-8 in their 40 overs with Josh Baker the most successful Worcestershire bowler.
He finished with 3-25 from his eight overs.
Somerset were put into bat and were reduced to 53-6 at one stage after losing four wickets for two runs.
But Jamie Baird (37) and Julius Sumeraurer (55 not out) added 73 for the seventh wicket.
Bilal Hussain (2-21), Henry Marshall (1-31), Edward Bragg (1-33) and George Marshall (1-35) were the other wicket-takers.
When Worcestershire batted, opener Calum Lea made 30 before he was lbw to Lewis Goldsworthy.
Alex Hinkley and Dan Meredith made useful middle order contributions with 22 runs apiece and then Edward Bragg made an unbeaten 19.
But Worcestershire were bowled out for 137 in 36.2 overs.
The Under-17s will next be in action on Thursday when they take on Cheshire Under-17s at Elworth in a 50 over clash (11am start).
