Worcestershire Supporters' Association have launched a memorial fund in honour of their late chairman Ken Mills MBE who recently passed away after a lengthy illness.
Ken spent 41 years as Association chairman and helped to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds which were donated to the cricket club on a host of projects.
Now the Association have set up the memorial fund – with all monies raised to be used for a future project for the benefit of all members at New Road.
Association president Cynthia Crawford MBE said: "Ken worked unstintingly to make the Association the success it is today. In truth it was his whole life.
"We can never thank him or applaud him enough. Pat, his late wife, was beside him always and also made a huge contribution.
"The Supporters' Shop, coaches to away matches, lunches etc were set up and many more fund raising projects. Players with benefit years were greatly assisted.
"Over the years, many hundreds of thousands of pounds have been raised, all monies going to the main cricket club for improvements.
"One of Ken's proudest and greatest achievements was raising the funds to buy the land that the cricket club owns today at New Road.
"In 2009-2010, Ken was honoured to be asked to take on the Presidency of the Worcestershire County Cricket Club which he was delighted to accept.
"Now it is our turn, as members of the Association, to plan something which will be a lasting mark of our appreciation of Ken's magnificent contribution and dedication.
"It has been agreed by the committee that we set up a memorial fund in Ken's name. All monies raised will be used for a future project for the benefit of all members of the whole of New Road."
