Tom Kohler-Cadmore scored a superb hundred as Worcestershire established a position of strength and claimed maximum batting points on day two of the Specsavers County Championship match with Glamorgan at the SWALEC Stadium.
The 22-year-old helped Worcestershire establish a first innings lead of 196 in making 403 out.
Then paceman Josh Tongue picked up two wickets in the space of four balls in Glamorgan's second innings.
By the close they had reached 141-3 off 42 overs – still 55 in arrears.
Kohler-Cadmore went to three figures with an extra cover drive for four off Glamorgan paceman Michael Hogan.
It was his 17th four and brought up his three figures off 159 balls in what was his first competitive hundred away from New Road.
Kohler-Cadmore fell to the next ball from Hogan, a good delivery which he nicked through to keeper Chris Cooke.
But the former Malvern College pupil – who gave one chance on 95 – could feel proud of his efforts as Worcestershire built strongly on their overnight 180-4.
Half centuries from Ed Barnard and debutant John Hastings backed up Kohler-Cadmore's fine knock as Worcestershire reached 403 all out – a lead of 196.
Ben Cox was an early victim of the Cooke-Hogan combination after adding just a single to his overnight 42 after adding 116 with Kohler-Cadmore.
But then Kohler-Cadmore and Barnard cemented Worcestershire's position during a fine partnership of 87.
After Kohler-Cadmore departed, skipper Joe Leach (10) was caught on the deep mid wicket boundary after pulling the final ball before lunch from Lukas Carey.
The morning session produced 122 runs off 29.5 overs for the loss of three wickets.
Barnard went to his fifty with a boundary backward of square off Hogan – his eighth – off 81 balls.
Hastings helped him add 47 before the former England Under-19 batsman was trapped lbw by Marchant de Lange for 59 at 349-8.
Hastings saw Worcestershire to their fourth batting point as the overall lead stretched past the 150 mark.
Tongue (6) was run out by Kiran Carlson's direct hit after Hastings had turned Hogan on the off side and called him through for a single.
Worcestershire were then 371-9 – still 29 short of the fifth batting point.
But Jack Shantry provided able support to Hastings in ensuring they reached that landmark.
Hastings brought up the 11th first class half century of his career from 67 balls with eight boundaries.
Then Shantry twice smashed Harry Podmore through cover point in the same over to bring up 400.
Hastings (51) eventually holed out to mid off from De Lange to leave Shantry 16 not out.
Glamorgan openers Jacques Rudolph and Nick Selman put on 74 when Glamorgan batted again but then came Tongue's double strike.
First Rudolph was yorked for 29 and then Glamorgan's first innings top scorer David Lloyd was trapped lbw for six in the same over at 80-2.
It became 108-3 when Hastings induced an edge out of Selman (42) – and Cox did the rest.
Colin Ingram (41 not out) and Aneurin Donald (10 not out) saw Glamorgan through to stumps.
