worcestershire ccc’s determination to continue to stay strongly connected with the club’s membership despite the covid-19 pandemic was again demonstrated thursday evening with their first on-line members forum.
club chairman fanos hira, vice chairman (and cricket steering group chairman) paul pridgeon, head coach alex gidman and company secretary sarah gluyas answered questions from members via zoom on-line conferencing.
it was an alternative and effective way of communicating during the pandemic compared to the accustomed members forums which in recent years have been traditionally held on the opening morning of home county championship matches at New Road.
mr hira presented an out-line of how the club was dealing with the covid-19 pandemic while mr gidman indicated how the players have been in training over the winter months, and how they were successfully dealing with the current situation from a physical and mental aspect.
mr pridgeon admitted it was a ‘wait and see’ situation regarding the club’s 2020 overseas signings ashton turner and hamish rutherford, until there was a concrete plan for cricket went ahead this summer.
ms gluyas said it was a similar scenario in terms of membership, again depending on when there is a definite out-line for the 2020 campaign.
members put forward their specific questions on recent developments and the covid-19 pandemic, which were all answered during the 45 minute session which preceded the now weekly applause at 8pm on thursdays for nhs and key workers.
the on-line forum was announced on monday and members quickly registered to snap up the limited spaces available before submitting their questions.
it continued worcestershire ccc’s policy of being informative towards our loyal members and supporters and follows the recent detailed club update posted on the club website and social media channels encompassing the period march to early april.
