worcestershire ccc’s office staff swapped their suits for sponges to assist with the clear-up at New Road after the recent flood.
ceo matt rawnsley and managing director jon graham were amongst those who helped with cleaning seats and sweeping away debris at the county’s headquarters.
it followed on from a bunch of volunteers heeding worcestershire’s rallying call to aid ensuring the ground is ship shape for the new campaign.
matt rawnsley said: “when i first started here, i highlighted the importance of implementing a ‘one- club’ culture. with everyone, whether they are players, coaches, commercial, catering or finance, playing a key role in bringing everyone together around common goals.”
“this is another example of that and for the office staff to muck in this way for an entire morning speaks volumes of the spirit at the club now.
“we were so grateful last week to the volunteers who got the ball rolling by assisting with the clear-up.
“now the staff have done their bit to go alongside the tremendous work of the groundstaff with their work on the outfield and square.
“everyone is determined that ‘the show must go on’ and cricket will be staged at New Road on april 27.
“i have sensed a great commitment and love for the club on all sides since i came here – from coaches, to players, to office staff, kitchen staff. this is another example of that.”
