Skipper Andrew Hits 160 For Seconds In Evenly Contested Derby Clash

Worcestershire Seconds skipper Gareth Andrew hit 160 on an evenly balanced second day of the Second Eleven Championship clash with Warwickshire Seconds at Coventry and Warwicks CC.

Andrew resumed on 89 not out with Worcestershire 242-3 overnight and reached three figures off 168 balls.

He declared after being eighth out with the total on 350.

Andrew hit six sixes and 19 fours in his 211 ball innings spanning four hours as Warwickshire were made to pay for dropping him twice on the opening day.

Richie Lamb picked up four wickets as Worcestershire went for quick runs before Andrew declared.

Worcestershire then reduced Warwickshire to 26-3 in reply with Ian Westwood and Tom Lewis caught behind by Alex Milton and Andy Umeed falling to George Rhodes at first slip as Charlie Morris, triallist Adnan Ghaus and Graeme Whiles picked up a wicket apiece.

But then Sam Hain and Joathon Webb (98) added 155 for the fourth wicket before the latter gave Milton a third catch and Ghaus a second wicket.

Hain, a century-maker in the Second Eleven Trophy clash between the two sides on Monday, finished unbeaten on 92.

There was time for Darrel Williams to have Tom Milnes (22) caught by Academy debutant Freddie Wynn at short mid wicket before the close on 243-5.

Ghaus, who played second team cricket for Lancashire earlier in the season, finished with 2-32 from 16 overs and settled down after his opening spell.
