Ajay Shingadia hit a half century to help Worcestershire CCC Sub Academy fightback and gain a three wicket win over Shropshire in a 50 over game at Stourbridge.
Shingadia came to the wicket with Worcestershire 43-4 in reply to Shropshire’s 186 all out in 42.4 overs, after they had chosen to bat.
He added 51 for the fifth wicket with Ben Clarke (17), and went onto make 50 from 78 balls with five fours.
There was still work to do when Shingadia was seventh out at 150.
But Louis Whatmore, (37 not out off 35 balls), and captain Ben Sutton, (22 not out off 19 balls), saw Worcestershire to victory with 14 balls to spare.
Sutton had earlier taken three wickets including Shropshire’s top scorer, Matthew Lamb, for 52.
He ended with 3-46 from eight overs, and there were tight spells bowled by Dylan Griffiths, (8.4-1-23-1), and Clarke, (6-0-20-2).
Worcestershire Under-18s went down by 25 runs to Somerset in a high-scoring T20 match at King’s College, Taunton.
Spinner Josh Dickenson returned excellent figures of 2-20 in his four overs for Worcestershire, but the home side totalled 203-4 after being put into bat.
Cameron Jones and Ismail Mohammed were the other wicket-takers, and paceman Mitchell Stanley continued his comeback from injury and bowled two overs for 14 runs.
Mohammed hit 39 off 30 balls with seven fours when Worcestershire replied, and Miles Holland struck 76 off 58 balls, with two sixes and nine fours.
He shared in stands of 68 with Mohammed and 51 with Rehaan Edavalath (13) but Worcestershire closed on 178-6.
