Worcestershire Second Eleven coach Kevin Sharp is relishing his side being part of an experiment that could lead to the first day-night Test in England next year.
The Seconds will take on their Warwickshire counterparts under floodlights with a pink ball at Edgbaston in a Championship match from August 22-24.
It is a dry run for a possible day night clash between England and West Indies in the first Test of next summer's series which gets underway at Edgbaston on August 17.
Sharp said: "It is really exciting and something to really look forward to. I can't wait and I would imagine there will be a lot of interest and a few eyes on the game.
"Bumpy (Steve Rhodes, Worcestershire Director of Cricket)) received a call from Dougie Brown (Warwickshire Director of Cricket) a few weeks back in relation to the ECB having been in touch with Warwickshire in almost staging a trial for Test cricket in England.
"It coincided with the three-day Championship match we have with Warwickshire and we have just brought it back a week to the date they needed to do it.
"I should imagine we will have a pretty central wicket because it needs to be done in a way that does represent a trial so what a great opportunity for everyone.
"It will be great for our lads to not only play at Edgbaston but also play under those circumstances.
"There is day-night cricket played in other parts of the world now.
"They are looking to see if it can be successful in England and we are getting the opportunity to test the water on it so what a great opportunity for all of us. It will be fantastic for the young lads."
Play will get underway at 2pm on Monday.
