Jack Shantry top-scored for Worcestershire Pears on the opening day of a two-day friendly with Worcestershire Rapids at Kidderminster.
Shantry, fresh from his 10 wicket haul against Oxford MCCU, came in at number five and hit 60 off 91 balls with three sixes and eight fours.
He shared in a fifth wicket stand of 91 with Charlie Morris who made 42 but after Shantry's dismissal, the remaining five wickets fell for 24 runs as the Pears were dismissed for 262.
Liam Smith was the most Rapids bowlers, taking the new ball and finishing with 3-39 from 12.4 overs.
Several Pears batsman got in, with the top four scoring between 23 and 31, without going onto make a sizeable contribution until the Shantry-Morris partnership.
The Rapids reached 78-2 off 18 overs by the close with George Rhodes and fellow opener Joe Clarke dismissed for 20 and 24 respectively.
The two sides consisted of a mixture of first team players not involved at Northampton, second team and academy players.
