SECONDS FACE HOME DOUBLE HEADER IN BID TO REACH FINALS DAY

Worcestershire Seconds face two home games in the space of four days which will go a long way to determining if they can qualify for SET20 finals day at Arundel on June 24.

They play host to Northamptonshire Seconds at Barnt Green today (Monday) and then entertain Glamorgan Seconds at Kidderminster on Thursday.

The Seconds are in strong contention to finish as the best runner-up from the three groups who will accompany the three group winners to finals day.

They currently have nine points from eight games compared to second-placed Durham – 10 points from eight games in the North Group – and current runners-up Surrey – seven points from eight matches in the South Group.

Seconds Coach Kadeer Ali said: “We have still got a chance of qualifying, and it will come down to what happens on Monday and Thursday.

“If we win both, we’ve got a good chance of qualifying as the best runners-up and to go through to finals day would be a great experience for the lads.

“We have played some outstanding cricket in the competition.”

Club Captain Joe Leach will again be part of the Seconds side, and he hit a half-century and picked up three wickets in the defeat against Somerset Seconds at Taunton Vale.
