Worcestershire Seconds went down by 24 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis Method to their Nottinghamshire counterparts in a Second Eleven Trophy encounter at New Road.
Rain intervened with the home side on 134-6 from 25.2 overs in reply to Nottinghamshire's 229-9 in 50 overs.
Worcestershire had been ahead of the required rate for most of their innings and were 12 runs in front at 122-4 when Alexei Kervezee, having made 39 off 38 balls with six fours, went for a sweep shot and top edged spinner Matt Carter to fine leg.
Then, with Worcestershire three runs behind where they needed to be, Nick Hammond (21) fell at backward point off the same bowler from what proved to be the last delivery of the game before rain drove the players from the field.
George Newton (17) and Will Fraine (31) put on 55 for the first wicket in just eight overs. Newton was stumped off a wide from Carter and Fraine dragged on a Matt Milnes delivery.
Alex Hepburn (0) was bowled by a good ball from Carter that turned and Alex Milton (1) was caught behind off Dominic Brown but Worcestershire looked poised for their first win in the competition until the late turnaround in fortunes.
Earlier Nottinghamshire lost three of their first four wickets to run-outs.
Sam Wood (15) was stranded by Newton's direct hit from mid off, Jake Libby (9) was defeated by Hepburn's throw to Milton and then Billy Root (20) was undone at the non striker's end when bowler Hepburn deflected a Anuj Dal drive onto the stumps.
Dal top-scored with 63 off 86 balls with six fours for Notts before he became one of three victims for Chris Russell who finished with 3-53 from his 10 overs.
All the Worcestershire bowlers performed tidily at around four runs an over.
