SECONDS DISRUPTED BY LATE CHANGES FOR LOCAL DERBY BATTLE AT PORTLAND ROAD

Worcestershire Seconds preparations were disrupted by three late changes to their line-up for the Second Eleven Championship match with Warwickshire at Portland Road, Edgbaston.

Triallist Muhammad Bilal was found to be ineligible to play and replaced by Yadvinder Singh and pace bowler Cameron Jones was injured in the warm-up and his place was taken by Hishaam Khan.

Then opener Tom Fell was needed to replace Taylor Cornall as a concussion replacement for the LV=Insurance County Championship match with Glamorgan at New Road and Ismail Mohammed stepped into his position.

Five Worcestershire bowlers picked up one wicket apiece as a century from Dan Mousley helped Warwickshire to 315-5 from 80 overs by the close.

Adam Finch made the first breakthrough with his third delivery when bowling Hamza Shaikh and it became 35-2 when Ethan Brookes (8) chopped onto Yadvinder Singh.

England all-rounder, Chris Woakes struck 67 in a stand of 126 with Mousley before he was caught at cover point off Jordon Neil.

Seconds captain Pat Brown bowled Jake Lintott (52) with a ball that nipped back and Mousley’s fine knock ended on 125 when he attempted to reverse sweep Jacques Banton and was caught around the corner.

Finch ended with figures of 16-5-51-1, Singh 12-1-36-1, Brown 9-0-48-1, Banton 11-1-44-1 and Neil 7-0-22-1.
