Worcestershire Seconds captain Ollie Westbury hit an unbeaten 81 to lead Himley to an eight wicket win over Bromsgrove in Division One of the Birmingham and District Premier League.
Westbury, who will lead the Seconds in today’s Trophy clash with Lancashire at Barnt Green, struck 12 boundaries in his 94 ball knock.
It enabled Himley to reach their 188 target with 17.5 overs to spare.
Earlier County Academy paceman Adam Finch had claimed 4-42 from his 10 overs as Bromsgrove were bowled out for 187 in 48.5 overs.
This represented a substantial recovery from 60-7 with Worcestershire Cricket Board cricket development director Tom Hill (33) helping Jack Taylor (90 not out) add 95 for the eighth wicket.
Two more Seconds players facing Lancashire in George Rhodes and Ryan Tongue powered Barnards Green to a seven wicket win over Brockhampton who made 239-9.
Tongue’s 83 from 103 deliveries contained two sixes and 10 fours and he and Rhodes put on 117 for the third wicket.
Rhodes was undefeated on 82 from 80 balls with 10 fours when victory was sealed after 48.3 overs.
Spinner Ben Twohig was also amongst the runs as Kidderminster defeated Wellington by 16 runs.
Twohig, batting at number three, made a 72-ball 68 with two sixes and six fours out of 227-8 and had figures of 10-0-51-1 as Wellington were dismissed for 211 in 48.2 overs.
In the Premier Division, Seconds wicket-keeper Joe Dodd’s 72 was the highlight of Dorridge’s 225-9.
Dodd faced just 80 deliveries and cleared the ropes twice in addition to hitting seven fours.
His side then bowled Shrewsbury out for 154.
Academy player Zen Malik top-scored with 48 for Wolverhampton but finished on the losing side as Smethwick overhauled their 203 all out with three balls to spare.
Worcestershire coach and Barnt Green captain Andy Sutton finished with figures of 10-1-43-3 and scored 17 not out but he finished on the losing side by 22 runs after Berkswell had amassed 272-9.
