worcestershire rapids will be looking to bring down the curtain on the 2020 season in style today when they take on glamorgan in the vitality blast at New Road (1pm start)
rapids blast captain ed barnard says the fixture offers an opportunity to take some momentum into the winter training programme by finishing with a victory.
the rapids have been edged out on several occasions in tight finishes, and barnard believes those show the fine margins that can make a significant difference to a campaign.
he said: “we said in the changing room after friday’s game with birmingham bears that in another year we might have won three or four of those close games and it would be a completely different picture.
“in a lot of the games we’ve played, we certainly haven’t been smashed, so it’s not all doom and gloom.
“glamorgan are a good side and had a good victory over gloucestershire on friday, but hopefully we can finish with a win.
“it would be nice to get a win on sunday and take that into the winter and then into next year and just finish on a bit of a high.”
the rapids opening blast fixture against glamorgan at cardiff was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
hamish rutherford will play the final game of his third spell with worcestershire.
the new zealand opener is currently the fourth highest six-hitter in the blast with 15 to his name this summer.
