Mitchell Santner will link up with Worcestershire Rapids later today (Tuesday) as an IPL winner after being part of the Chennai Super Kings squad which defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the final at Ahmedabad.
The New Zealand star is scheduled to fly into England at lunchtime to join the Rapids for the remainder of their Vitality Blast North Group campaign.
Santner played in three IPL group matches against the Titans, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.
He had originally been scheduled to make the flight on Monday, but the final had to be extended into a reserve day because of heavy rain.
Santner will join forces with fellow Black Caps player Michael Bracewell, who has played in all three of the Rapids victories to date.
He will replace Pakistan leg spinner Usama Mir, who impressed during a short-term contract.
Bracewell said: “Usama has done amazingly well on and off the field. He is a brilliant guy, and I wish him all the best.
“But Mitch Santner is coming in, and has a lot of experience, and is a quality player as well.
“He has a wise head and will impart a lot of good knowledge to the players while we are here.”
Santner had previously played with the Rapids in the Blast during 2016 and 2017.
