George Rhodes is continuing his good form for Onslow CC – but his side are so far struggling to repeat their 50 over form in the two-day Pearce Cup competition.
The Worcestershire all-rounder played a major role in Onslow lifting the Ewen Chatfield Trophy.
Rhodes has also impressed in the longer format with Onslow hanging on for a draw in the clash with Hutt CC and coming off second best on day one of the encounter with Eastern Suburbs.
Against Hutt CC, Rhodes returned 4-38 off 17.4 overs and then 3-41 off 15 overs as Hutt were bowled out for 154 and 112.
He also top-scored in both innings for Onslow with 29 out of 112 and then 34 as they ended the game on 120-9.
Onslow were bowled out for 101 in 42 overs against Eastern Suburbs with Rhodes making 12 off 33 balls – one of only four players to reach double figures.
The off spinner then came on first change and picked up two wickets.
He broke an opening stand of 66 by having Luke Georgeson (27) stumped and also accounted for Fraser Colson (28) and ended with figures of 11-1-36-2.
But Onslow will have plenty of work to do on day two next weekend as Eastern Suburbs closed on 216-3 from 56 overs.
