Steve Rhodes says it is crucial to "take it one game at a time" as Worcestershire Rapids prepare for this evening's home NatWest T20 Blast clash with Derbyshire Falcons (5.30pm start).
The Rapids are still well placed to qualify for the quarter-finals despite successive defeats against Notts Outlaws and Lancashire Lightning before last night's wash-out away to Durham Jets.
But Rhodes, who has named an unchanged squad after the Rapids arrived back at New Road in the early hours of this morning, knows there is work to do if a fourth quarter-final in five years is to be secured – and possibly beyond.
Worcestershire's Director Of Cricket said: "We are certainly desperate not to rest on any laurels. Like all the games, I try not to get carried away. I try not to get too down if we lose or too high if we win.
"I do take it one game at a time and I think that is really important.
"You are not qualified until you've got the points you need to qualify and to do that you just need to win games.
"If you concentrate on winning games, take them one at a time – whatever is next – and you'd hope you might be able to qualify.
"If you qualify, it's just the same again, you've just got to win games to hopefully eventually win a final but that's a long way away.
"We want our feet firmly on the ground and concentrate on the processes of winning T20 games."
South African paceman Kyle Abbott is poised to make his home debut for the Rapids who lie in third spot.
