Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes praised his side for achieving a "moral victory" in the drawn LV = County Championship match with Surrey at the Kia Oval but disappointed that the weather again dashed their victory hopes.
Surrey followed on 270 in arrears on first innings but, with only 41 overs possible on a rain-hit final day, were able to escape with a draw as they closed on 240-5.
Worcestershire collected 12 points to remain four behind leaders Hampshire, who visit New Road on Sunday for the start of a top of the table clash and were also thwarted by the elements against Derbyshire.
But the county are 34 points clear of third placed Glamorgan and 35 ahead of fourth placed Essex.
Rhodes told BBC Hereford-Worcester's Dave Bradley: "We're disappointed again that the rain again affected the chance of winning but it was very much a moral victory.
"We were well on top throughout the game and that was a really good effort to come to the Oval and be in such a powerful position and just sad that we couldn't finish it off.
"There were really, really good efforts from our team. Moeen Ali's batting was outstanding to get that score (162) and set up a really good score (476) in the first innings.
"I thought our bowlers really tried hard, they were solid and worked hard and their effort levels were something you could never criticise.
"To come away with the best of a draw, in many ways we are a little bit disappointed – but we shouldn't be because we worked hard and tried our best and sometimes when the weather intervenes, it is not enough."
Rhodes has been delighted with the way his seam attack has consistently "outbowled" their rivals this season.
He said: "The three main seamers, Joe Leach, Jack Shantry and Charlie Morris are the sort of names you wouldn't probably associate as powerful and good a bowling attack as Chris Tremlett, Jade Dernbach and Matt Dunn and others for Surrey.
"But in our eyes, along with Gareth Andrew who started the season so well, our seamers have been absolutely outstanding and put in performances better than the opposition bowlers.
"For us to continually outbowl the opposition bowlers is really pleasing."
