George Rhodes was amongst the wickets as title-chasing Onslow CC overcame home side Hutt District CC by 100 runs in the Ewen Chatfield Trophy.
The Worcestershire all-rounder came on first change and made inroads into the middle order, dismissing Deepak Joon and Brett Johnson in successive overs.
Rhodes then accounted for last man Will Branton as Hutt were bowled out for 167 in 44.5 overs.
He finished with figures of 8.5-1-38-3 and, with new ball bowler Malcolm Nofal claiming 4-36 in 10 overs, Onslow recorded a comfortable win.
Rhodes had earlier experienced a rare failure with the bat, being stumped for a single, as Onslow totalled 267-9 in their 50 overs.
He has scored 350 runs at an average of 43.75 – the fourth highest tally by any player in the competition.
Josh Dell finished on the losing side in successive matches for Midland-Guildford went down to Melville and Rockingham-Mandurah in Western Australia Cricket Association grade two matches.
Dell top-scored with 37 off 69 balls with seven fours against Melville as his side were bowled out for 106 in 35.3 overs in reply to Melville’s 185 in 48.2 overs.
He then made 15 of Midland Guildford’s 165 all out in 48 overs – a total that Rockingham Mandurah overhauled for the loss of three wickets.
Charlie Morris’s side, Tuggeranong Valley, went down by 51 runs on day two of the McDonald’s ACT Premier Cricket first grade match against Eastlake.
Morris had returned figures of 19-4-52-1 as Eastlake made 280-9 on day one but his side were bowled out for 229 in 73 overs on the second day.
