Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes would love to deliver a finals day appearance to the "loyal" Worcestershire fans in the NatWest T20 Blast but admits it "is silly to think too far ahead."
The Rapids followed up their win over Nottinghamshire Outlaws by defeating holders Northamptonshire Steelbacks by five wickets at New Road last night. However Rhodes knows there is still a long way to go in the competition before Worcestershire can contemplate thoughts of appearing at Edgbaston in August.
The former England wicket-keeper said: "It was an excellent win especially with the way Northants started.
"We came back strong in the field and with the ball and I was delighted we managed to keep them to that score (134) and our two openers (Moeen Ali and Richard Oliver) were magnificent in the chase.
"The way that they played made the game very easy when chasing what could have been a tricky little chase on a wicket that stopped a bit.
"Northants are a very good side. They've won six or seven on the bounce in T20 before this so it was a good scalp.
"The two wins -gives us confidence but as with all wins you've then got to get yourself down from that high because the games come thick and fast and I don't know a weak side in this competition.
"It is a case of not getting carried away and not getting too down when you have some defeats."
When asked about qualifying for finals day, Rhodes said: "We'd love to do that for the crowd but it is a long way off at the moment and silly to think too far ahead because we've got a long road to try and get qualification first of all.
"It's one step at a time. For the crowd, we'd love to do it for the Worcestershire public. They are very loyal to us and we want to repay them but, like I just said, there is no point in getting carried away with things.
"Now it is 14 games over a spaced out period. It is a bit more like a league situation and we've got to make sure that we qualify.
"They've had to wait a while for a home game and it's a shame the weather wasn't better because I'm pretty sure there would have been a full house.
"There was a good crowd and hopefully they would have enjoyed some good entertainment."
Rhodes confirmed all-rounder Gareth Andrew is not yet ready to return to first team action because of his back problem.
He said: "Gareth is looking like being out for about another two and a half weeks, something like that.
"He will potentially play in the second team as a batsman but he's got to stay off the bowling a little bit. It's a back problem."
