George Rhodes made a telling contribution with bat and ball as North Canberra Gungahlin achieved a five wicket win over visiting Eastlake in the ACT Premier Cricket first grade competition today.
The Worcestershire all-rounder bowled 10 overs for just 19 runs and one wicket and then top-scored with 49 before he was run out.
It continued the good form Rhodes has shown Down Under and he is currently third in the NCG batting averages and has taken eight wickets in five games.
Eastlake elected to bat and were restricted to 142-9 in their 50 overs after losing their first three wickets for 18 runs.
Rhodes came into the attack second change and claimed his one success in a tight spell when bowling M. Taylor-Briscoe for 26.
He then made sure NCG had few alarms chasing their modest target despite losing two wickets for 25.
Rhodes shared in the decisive partnership of 74 for the third wicket with A. Glover (31).
He was eventually third out with the total on 99 after facing 80 deliveries and hitting one boundary as his side won with 10.5 overs to spare.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore was one of 17 wickets to fall on the opening day of Penrith Panthers Sydney Grade Cricket first grade clash with visiting Sydney.
Penrith were dismissed for 126 but then reduced Sydney to 139-7 by the close of the opening day of a game which will be concluded next weekend.
Worcestershire batsman Kohler-Cadmore and his team-mates were back in action after the wash-out of the game with Bankstown but after electing to bat, Penrith were reduced to 26-6.
Kohler-Cadmore, who had previous scores of 50 and 126 in the competition, was fifth out with the total on 22 after making six from 28 balls.
It was left to J. Wholohan's 46 off 85 balls to lead a partial recovery.
Kohler-Cadmore bowled three overs for five runs as Sydney were also made to scrap hard for runs.
