Rhodes And Twohig Lead Fightback For Seconds In Local Derby

George Rhodes was amongst the runs as he and Ben Twohig led a Worcestershire Seconds recovery on day one of the opening Championship match with local rivals Warwickshire Seconds at Portland Road.

The County all-rounder had been one of the batsmen short of runs in the opening two Specsavers County Championship matches of the campaign.

But he was able to spend some welcome time in the middle batting at number three after Worcestershire had been put into bat.

He ended a truncated day unbeaten on 91 from 191 balls and struck 10 boundaries.

Rhodes was given good support by Twohig with the pair joining forces at 100-5 and adding an unbroken 111.

Twohig, in the first team squad for the opening two games of the season, followed up his four wicket haul against Somerset Seconds by making 51 not out from 90 balls.

He struck two sixes and three fours as Worcestershire closed on 211-5 from 61.4 overs.

Opener Adam Wiffen and skipper Ollie Westbury were both caught behind, the latter off Boyd Rankin who also trapped Ross Whiteley lbw.

Josh Dell and Zen Malik then fell in successive balls to Oliver Hannon-Dalby before Rhodes and Twohig led the Worcestershire recovery.
