Centurion George Rhodes and Tom Fell powered Worcestershire Seconds to an eight wicket victory over Leicestershire in a Second Eleven Trophy encounter at RGS Worcester today.
The second wicket pair put on 183 in 24 overs as Worcestershire reached their 238 target with 17.2 overs to spare.
It was their first success of 2019 in the competition after being beaten by Warwickshire at Moseley last week.
Fell was dismissed for 95 off 76 balls with five sixes and six fours after holing out to deep mid-wicket off spinner Callum Parkinson.
But Rhodes went onto complete his ton and he finished on exactly 100 not out from 99 balls with 11 boundaries.
The pair came together after the dismissal of Ollie Westbury (7) at backward point with 43 on the board.
Earlier, Leicestershire had totalled 237-6 in their 50 overs.
Triallist seamer Ari Kervalas made the first breakthrough when Harry Swindells (5) was caught behind off a skier.
The major stand of the innings saw Jack Nightingale (53) and Ateeq Javid (39) add 113 for the second wicket in 26 overs.
The partnership was broken when Nightingale was caught at mid off from the bowling of Zain Ul-Hassan.
Three runs later Adam Finch held onto a return skied catch by Aadil Ali (0).
Javid’s knock ended when club captain Joe Leach held onto a chance at cover off Rhodes.
Leg spinner Josh Dickenson picked up a wicket as Ben Mike (13) holed out to Josh Dell at short cover.
Parkinson made 63 from 67 balls with six fours before he was last out with Rhodes accepting the chance at long off to give Finch a second wicket.
Finch ended with figures of 10-1-40-2, Kervalas 10-0-43-1, Ul-Hassan 8-0-43-1, Dickenson 9-0-48-1, Rhodes 10-0-39-1 and Jacques Banton 3-0-14-0.
