Worcestershire Rapids 2019 Vitality Blast overseas player Martin Guptill is to participate in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam later this summer.
The New Zealander has signed up to play for Edinburgh Rocks in the six-team tournament which runs from August 30 to September 22.
Guptill is one of six ‘icon’ players selected for the tournament along with Shahid Afridi, Rashid Khan, Brendon McCullum, Eoin Morgan and Shane Watson.
The Edinburgh Rocks side will be coached by former England, Middlesex and Surrey batsman Mark Ramprakash.
Also part of the squad is former Worcestershire paceman and Guptill’s Black Caps team-mate Matt Henry.
The other five franchises are Amsterdam Knights, Belfast Titans, Dublin Chiefs, Glasgow Giants and Rotterdam Rhinos.
Thirty-three matches are scheduled to be played in a tournament co-hosted by Cricket Ireland, Cricket Scotland and the Netherlands Cricket Board.
Approximately 700 cricketers from 22 nations registered to take part in the draft for the competition.
Guptill made his first appearance of his second spell for the Rapids in Thursday night’s victory over Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge.
