Worcestershire 2023 signing, Mitchell Santner, was in fine form with the bat for Northern Districts on day one of the Plunket Shield fixture with Central Districts at Mount Maunganui.
Santner, who will be playing for the Rapids in the Vitality Blast, showed his ability in red ball cricket in making an unbeaten 75.
He came to the wicket at 222-3 and added 111 for the fourth wicket with Bharat Popli (105) in 27.2 overs.
The all-rounder hit three sixes and eight fours in his 106 ball knock and will resume tomorrow with Northern Districts well placed on 346-4 from 96 overs.
Popli and Jeet Raval (119) had earlier laid the foundations of the innings by adding 162 for the second wicket after Northern Districts had chosen to bat.
Santner is making his second appearance in the 2022-2023 four-day competition after hitting 44 and 41 in the previous game with Canterbury in Hamilton.
The left arm spinner will be returning to New Road this summer for a third spell of Blast cricket.
