Worcestershire supporters have raised more than £1000 for the Worcester Foodbank – the club’s official 2023 Charity Partner – via the auction of Rapids match shirts from last summer’s Vitality Blast fixture against Northamptonshire Steelbacks at New Road.
A total of 14 shirts, including those of overseas stars Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell and Club Captain Brett D’Oliveira, were up sold via the auction on the Worcestershire CCC website.
The biggest successful bid was the £110 for the shirt of New Zealand star Santner who had an outstanding time in the Blast.
His shirt was very much in demand after he became only the third Rapids player to score more than 400 runs in a Blast campaign and also bowled impressively with his left arm spin.
D’Oliveira was voted Worcestershire T20 Player Of The Year for the third year running and his shirt fetched £100 in the auction.
But there were substantial amounts paid out for all of the shirts during the week long auction and the grand total raised was £1029.
Joe Tromans, Worcestershire Head of Commercial And Partnerships, said: “It’s fantastic that so much money has been raised for this worthy cause.
“Supporters have really embraced the auction to obtain a piece of Rapids history but also to support the Worcester Foodbank which does an amazing job.
“The Foodbank continues to play such an important role in the local community and hopefully these funds will be of great assistance to them. A huge thanks to everyone who took part.”
