worcesterhire rapids will step up their preparations for the 2018 vitality blast tomorow (monday) – with head coach kevin sharp confirming that all of the squad will be involved in the second eleven t20 double header against leicestershire at the fischer county ground.
the players are recharging their batteries over the weekend after a demanding schedule of eight days out of nine in the specsavers county championship against lancashire and nottinghamshire.
now they will focus fully on the short format of the game for the next three weeks during which time they will play six blast matches before the next championship match against somerset at New Road (july 22 to 25).
the opening blast match is against lancashire at emirates old trafford next thursday followed 24 hours later by the home clash with birmingham bears which is a general admission sell-ou
sharp, speaking after the draw at trent bridge, said: “the lads now will get two or three days off. they’ve had a really busy schedule recently.
“we’ve had a semi-final in the one-day cup and then eight days of county championship cricket out of nine.
“the lads deserve a couple of days off and we will regroup on monday.
“we’ve got two second eleven t20s at leicester on monday and all of the staff are going to play in one of those games.
“we will start preparing for t20 in that manner and then practice before we go to old trafford on thursday.”
