RAPIDS FRUSTRATED BY WEATHER AFTER  NEW ROAD BLAST WASHOUT

Worcestershire Rapids were frustrated by the weather when this afternoon’s Vitality Blast encounter with Northamptonshire Steelbacks at New Road was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Play was finally scheduled to get underway at 4.45pm in an 11 overs per side contest.

The Rapids had been put into bat and both sides announced their line-ups but a further downpour led to the game being called off.

Both teams collected one point from the encounter.

The Rapids would have been without batter Jack Haynes who suffered a knee injury whilst fielding during Friday’s game with Leicestershire Foxes.

Worcestershire Rapids (declared line-up): Pollock, D’Oliveira, Munro ©, Kashif Ali, Barnard, Roderick (w), Libby, Bravo, Morris, Stanley, Brown.

They will be hoping for better luck with the weather for Thursday’s home game with Yorkshire Vikings (5.30pm start).
