Rapids Fate In Own Hands After Bears Overcome Lightning

Worcestershire Rapids fate is now in their own hands as they bid to secure a top two finish – and a home quarter-final – in the Vitality Blast.

Durham Jets are now guaranteed a last eight clash at the Emirates Riverside after second placed Lancashire Lightning went down to Birmingham Bears on a spin-friendly pitch at Edgbaston this evening.

The Rapids will follow suit if they pick up any points from their final match when they visit the Bears on Friday under lights (6.30pm start).

A win, a tie or a wash-out will guarantee Worcestershire overhaul the Lightning.

They could top the group if they claim both points and the Jets slip up at home to Derbyshire Falcons.

Birmingham are also still in contention to qualify if they come out on top on Friday after defeating the Lightning although it will depend on other results going in their favour.

It is a re-run of the finale to the North Group in the Royal London One-Day Cup when the Rapids won at Edgbaston to finish top and in the process eliminated the Bears.

Friday’s game is NOT being shown live on Sky Sports who are instead featuring the Vikings-Outlaws game.
