Worcestershire Rapids ranking as one of the very best white ball teams during the past three years has again been highlighted through reaching the quarter-finals of the Vitality Blast.
The Rapids have reached the knockout stages from the North Group in either the Royal London One-Day Cup or Blast from the last four tournaments – and five out of six.
In 2017 and 2018 they topped the group in the One-Day Cup and secured home semi-final draws and then this summer came runners-up and went through to a play-off.
It has been a similar picture in the Blast with the Rapids top of the group in 2018 – on their way to winning the trophy – and this year certain of a top four spot and still in contention for a runners-up berth behind Lancashire Lightning.
Rapids First Team Coach, Alex Gidman, said: “To have done it (qualified) now for four competitions on the bounce shows real consistency.
“We’ve had one trophy, it’s unrealistic to think that you are going to win every trophy but we will be giving this one a right crack.
“It’s been a good campaign and I know there are 13-14 blokes in the dressing room who are very quietly quite desperate to go far again.
“It’s been a good couple of years in white ball cricket and we hope that continues, not just for this year but the coming years as well.”
