worcestershire rapids registered their second win of the campaign in the royal london one-day cup as they overcame durham by four wickets in a rain affected game at New Road.
durham had been restricted to 114-4 in 27.2 overs with charlie morris, josh tongue, daryl mitchell and brett d’oliveira picking up one wicket apiece before the heavens opened.
the rapids were eventually set a 152 target in 24 overs via the duckworth-lewis method after a delay of more than four hours.
a half century opening stand between hamish rutherford and riki wessels gave the rapids the ideal start.
after a mid innings wobble, another fifty partnership between ben cox and ross whiteley saw the rapids over the line with 10 balls to spare.

durham were put into bat by brett d’oliveira and new ball bowler morris made the first breakthrough in his third over as scott steel (14) went for a drive and was bowled by a delivery which came back sharply.
graham clark (10) paid the penalty as he pulled a short delivery from tongue straight to whiteley at deep square leg.
durham skipper cameron bancroft went into the game on the back of unbeaten centuries in the competition – 151 versus northamptonshire and 118 against leicestershire.

he deposited matt salisbury and matt potts for six on his way to 33 from 22 balls before nicking a wide delivery from ben raine through to keeper bancroft.
wessels was also full of attacking intent in making 29 before he was caught off a skier by bancroft running back towards the boundary from a salisbury delivery.
mitchell (0) dragged a slower delivery from brydon carse onto his stumps at 71-3 in the 10th over.
tom fell (7) top edged carse to mid on in his next over and d’oliveira (6) was caught behind off salisbury.
cox and whiteley steadied the ship with a half century stand in seven overs.
whiteley made a run a ball 26 before he attempted to cut raine and was caught behind.
but cox went onto make an unbeaten 31 and, with ed barnard (12 not out), saw the rapids over the finishing line.
