worcestershire rapids will be aiming to complete their royal london one-day cup home programme in the north group with a 100 per cent record when they take on northamptonshire steelbacks at New Road today (11am start)
the rapids have won their opening three matches in front of their own supporters in the competition against derbyshire falcons, lancashire and leicestershire foxes.
they are joint north group leaders along with the falcons and warwickshire whom they visit in their final match at edgbaston on thursday.
the rapids have made one change to their squad with england under-19 paceman adam finch earning a first senior call-up.
finch was part of his country’s squad for the 2018 icc world cup in new zealand – along with county colleague dillon pennington – and played in three matches.
he replaces josh tongue who is ruled out with a foot injury.
the rapids will be looking to bounce back from a 38 run defeat against holders notts outlaws at trent bridge on friday.
head coach kevin sharp said: “all is not lost with this (defeat). we are joint top of the group and we will learn a lot should we come across a surface like that again.
“we’ve talked about it, we will learn from it, and will come back fighting on sunday.
“we can’t wait for sunday. i’m sure if the weather is alright there will be a good crowd in at (blackfinch) new road.
“if we can win there on sunday, then we are in a very, very good position.”
