RAPIDS 2020 SIGNING TURNER LEADS WESTERN AUSTRALIA INTO CUP FINAL

Worcestershire Rapids 2020 Vitality Blast signing, Ashton Turner, skippered Western Australia as they sealed a place in the final of the 50 over Marsh Cup competition.

Turner and his team-mates pulled off a tense six run win over South Australia in the decisive group match in Adelaide.

They are through to the final which will take place on November 26.

Turner, who is available for the entire Vitality Blast campaign next summer with the Rapids, went in at number four and made a quickfire 28.

He struck four boundaries in his 32 ball knock before he was caught behind off Wes Agar – brother of Ashton – who finished with 5-40.

It took Turner’s run tally to 133 from four knocks in the competition either side of his involvement in Australia’s recent T20 Series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Cameron Green (86) enabled Western Australia, who were put into bat, to recover from 73-5 to reach 252 all out in 49.1 overs.

South Australia’s innings followed a similar pattern and they were 76-5 and 126-7 before Worcestershire’s 2018 and 2019 signing, Callum Ferguson, made 127 off 125 balls until he was last out with one over remaining.
