POWELL AND CLARKE HELP SUB-ACADEMY TO LOCAL DERBY TRIUMPH

Worcestershire CCC Sub Academy gained a convincing 98 run over their Warwickshire counterparts in a 50 over encounter at Stourbridge, with keeper Luke Powell and Ben Clarke making significant contributions with the bat and ball.

Openers Oliver Walker (23), and Lucas Ingram (38), laid the foundations for Worcestershire’s 219-9 after they elected to bat with an opening stand of 59.

Jack Home maintained the momentum, with 36 off 47 balls, and then Powell, batting at number seven, struck a rapid half-century.

He faced just 34 balls and hit two sixes and five fours.

Warwickshire never looked like reaching their target, being bowled out for 121 in 35.2 overs.

Clarke came into the attack for the ninth over, and his initial spell brought figures of 8-3-18-2, and an overall analysis of 10-3-27-2.

Ben Parker (5-0-22-2), Tom Parker (5-1-13-2), and Ciaran Baker-Smith, (9.2-1-40-2), also played their part in a fine win.

Nottinghamshire side at Barnt Green.
