Skipper Brett D’Oliveira gave his reaction to BBC Hereford-Worcester’s Sports Producer, Trevor Owens, after the Rapids thrilling five wicket win over the Lightning at Emirates Old Trafford this evening.
D’Oliveira picked up a wicket with his first delivery of the game and then hit a crucial 37 not out off 23 balls to steer his side over the finishing line with one ball to spare.
Brett D’Oliveira said: “I can’t fault the lads, I thought they were excellent throughout the game. It was a great batting wicket and our young bowlers stuck to their plans really well so I was proud of them.
“They had a powerful bating line-up and it was one of our plans to keep them quiet at the start. It doesn’t always go to plan but fortunately today, it did. The bowlers did really well.
“Woody (Luke Wood) has got a bit about him. I like the way he goes about his business. He is a lovely lad, he gets on with all of the boys pretty well and today he was outstanding for us, I felt.”
D’Oliveira added: “I was happy at the mid-point of the game. It was a good batting wicket and we knew that if we batted well we had a chance of chasing that total down and fortunately this evening, we managed to do that.
“Wobbles happen in T20 cricket but you have to keep going and we did well today.
“We’ve got some young heads mixed with some quite experienced players like Daryl Mitchell and Callum Ferguson.
“They steady the ship quite well and it’s nice to have those guys around and today I thought the boys as a collective played really well.
“Lancashire dropped four catches but that’s T20. I’m sure we’ll be on the receiving end at some point. Nobody means to drop them. That’s part of the game.”
