Worcestershire’s player sponsorship auction has raised almost £4,000, and the squad have increased their donation to 50% for the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust, the Club’s 2022 Official Charity Partner.
Companies of all sizes and supporters had the opportunity to sponsor a player via the innovative auction and receive global exposure to their brand via Worcestershire’s multiple media platforms.
Initially, 20% of that figure was being donated to the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust, but the generosity of the squad in increasing that to 50% means the charity will now benefit by almost £1,900.
A cheque will be presented to the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust at Worcestershire’s Chairman’s Lunch on Friday, April 1.
The successful bidders will have their company’s brand promoted to over 250,000 followers in Worcestershire and worldwide.
David Hoskins, Worcestershire’s Head of Commercial and Operations, said: “From the minute the bidding got underway, there was significant interest in this auction.
“It has caught the imagination of companies and individuals, and those who have bid successfully have benefitted on two levels.
“The awareness of their own brands will be enhanced via our multiple media platforms, which reach out worldwide to hundreds of thousands of followers.
“In addition, they will be sponsoring a player but also supporting such a worthwhile charity as the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust.”
Worcestershire Club Captain, Brett D’Oliveira, said: “A massive thank you to everyone who has supported this unique auction from myself and all of the players.
“We have followed it with great interest right through its closure on Sunday evening.
“To have raised almost £4,000 in player sponsorship is a great effort, and the squad felt we wanted to increase the donation to 50% for the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust.
“It is such a worthwhile Official Club Charity Partner for 2022, and the more support we can give it, the better.”
