Plans In Pipeline For New Supporters’ Association Shop

Plans In Pipeline For New Supporters’ Association Shop

Worcestershire Supporters' Association are optimistic work will begin on building their new club shop immediately after the conclusion of the 2017 campaign.

The six figure project, which is being funded entirely by the Association, will be situated on the Cathedral side of the ground adjacent to the Premier Inn.

Discussions have taken place between the County Cricket Club-Association committee members and Worcester City Council, the  environment agency and the architects.

Subject to obtaining planning permission, it is intended that work will get underway on October 2 with the building completed in time for the 2018 season at New Road.

The Association's current shop is situated at the back of the Basil D'Oliveira Stand but the new premises will be in a much more prominent location for members and supporters.

Association chairman Andrew Jenkins said: "We are really excited about this project and there have been discussions with the architect, environment agency and the city council.

"One thing that has been established is that the base of the shop has to be at the same level as the adjacent Premier Inn.

"Subject to the project obtaining planning permission, we hope to see building work start on October 2.

"The new location will be ideal for members and supporters and hopefully we will raise more revenue which ultimately will benefit the club."

Worcestershire CEO Tom Scott said: "This is a worthwhile project and another one being funded by the Supporters' Association.

"It is another demonstration of how invaluable the Supporters' Association are to this club and, having seen the designs for the shop, it will do them and the club proud."
