Pardoe Hits Unbeaten Ton To Help Seconds Defeat Warwicks

Matt Pardoe scored an unbeaten century to help Worcestershire Seconds round off their Second Eleven Trophy group programme with a seven wicket win over Warwickshire Seconds at Kenilworth Wardens CC.

The opener scored 102 not out from 128 balls with two sixes and 10 fours as Worcestershire reached their 278 target with 15 balls to spare.

It was Pardoe's second hundred for the Seconds since losing his first team spot after the opening nine LV = County Championship matches of the campaign.

He shared in successive 50 plus partnerships with Richard Oliver, Alexei Kervezee and skipper Gareth Andrew for a strong Seconds line-up.

Warwickshire won the toss and elected to bat and lost openers Tom Lewis amd Tom Milnes – caught at mid off and short cover respectively – with only 38 on the board.

But then Sam Hain hit an unbeaten 124 off 116 balls with four sixes and six fours to lift Warwickshire to 277-4 in their 50 overs.

He put on 119 for the third wicket with Freddie Coleman (75) – a stand ended by Charlie Morris – and an unbroken 81 in nine overs with Aaron Thomason.

Oliver was in typically aggressive form with 55 off 56 balls with nine fours during an opening stand of 91 in 17 overs with Pardoe before being caught at cover.

Kervezee (33) fell at mid-off after a partnership of 53 in nine overs with Pardoe before the opener was joined by Andrew for the decisive stand of 115 in 18 overs.

Andrew made 50 off 53 deliveries with two sixes and four fours before he perished at fine leg but Brett D'Oliveira joined Pardoe to complete the victory.
