Richard Oliver will go straight into action and skipper Geelong City in their opening match of the season on Saturday.
The Worcestershire opener only flew out to Australia on Wednesday and will have had little time to acclimatise.
But that will not stop Oliver from captaining his side in the Geelong Cricket Association Division One clash against Leopold at the Richmond Crescent Oval.
Oliver, who is also helping to prepare Melbourne-based Geelong's wickets, has been playing Down Under during the winter for several seasons.
But this is his first term as Geelong skipper.
Worcestershire second eleven player Alex Hepburn has also flown out to Perth to play grade cricket this winter for Willetton Dragons.
Oliver and Hepburn will be absent when Worcestershire stage their awards evening at New Road this evening.
There will be 10 awards to be presented including Players' Player and Young Player Of The Year.
Tune into the Worcestershire CCC website tomorrow morning to find out who scooped the honours.
