Worcestershire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce the extension of an exciting sporting partnership with King’s Worcester, who join the Club as official partners.
Extending their multi-year affiliation with the Club, King’s Worcester has built a first-class reputation for their outstanding school sports provisions and continued excellence in sports and education within the local community.
Driven by a shared passion for sport and education, this youth-focused partnership will provide the King’s Worcester cricket academy with additional coaching opportunities, whilst also providing young people across Worcestershire with access to development programmes and cricket festivals.
The partnership is designed to inspire participation, support development pathways, and create meaningful opportunities for young people and families throughout the county.
The Cathedral school is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious cricketing conveyor belts in the country and has seen a plethora of stars come through its pathway, in addition to 32 current pupils on the Worcestershire County Player Pathway.
Graduate from the Old Vigornians roll of honour include former Worcestershire County Cricket Club and England international Josh Tongue, and current pupils Seth Essenhigh, Henry Hawes, Bryony Gillgrass and Pheobe Brett, who are all on the current playing staff at New Road.
Part of the new agreement will see King’s sponsor pupils, Worcestershire Women’s Rapids and England U19 aces Bryony Gillgrass and Phoebe Brett, for the 2026 season.
Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s Chief Revenue Officer Joe Tromans highlighted the Club’s desire to extend the well-established partnership.
“We are thrilled to be extending our relationship with King’s Worcester at what is a very exciting time for both the cathedral School and everybody involved here at Worcestershire.
“Successful partnerships are defined by a mutual desire to achieve and succeed together, and with our visions, values and principles aligning so cohesively with King’s, this is a partnership we feel runs into the heart of our county.
“As a well-known sporting organisation within Worcestershire, our objective is to make the game accessible and provide opportunities for the young people within our county.
“Working so closely with King’s, who are driven by the same motivation and can help offer such enriched opportunities, is what has, and will continue to make, this partnership so important.”
Jonny Mason, Foundation Director of Sport, added, “We are delighted to announce that we have expanded our sports partnership with Worcester County Cricket Club.
“From producing England Internationals to leading the way in boys’ and girls’ cricket, King’s sits alongside some of the leading cricketing schools in the UK.
“By extending our partnership with Worcestershire CCC, we will not only provide additional cricketing opportunities and inspiration for our pupils, but also support in widening access to sports provision for those in Worcestershire and beyond.”
