There were plenty of standout performances from last weekend’s Birmingham Premier League action, with a host of Worcestershire stars catching the eye once again.
With the Premier Division hotting up, there was plenty to catch the eye in Premier Division Two also..
Joe Porter played a starring role for Halesowen in their impressive 20-run win over Barnt Green on Saturday, with the youngster making a terrific 68 from 106 balls.
Opening the batting, Porter stroked nine fours in a mature innings that set his side up to defend 275 in a nervy finish.
Barnards Green came unstuck against Harborne in a game which saw two Worcestershire stars in action.
Barnards Green mustered 194 all out, largely thanks to Rehaan Edavalath’s 88-ball-70, with the batter scoring 11 fours, before seamer Jeet Varaich recorded exceptional figures of 3-30 from 10 overs despite his efforts being in vein as the visitors fell to a three wicket defeat.
Ombersley handed out a 203-run walloping to Himley last weekend, with Ombo posting a daunting 330-9 from their 55 overs.
Dan Lategan (85 from 76) extended his exceptional recent form, whilst Toby Cox (48 from 44) made a quick-fire cameo at the end of the innings, whilst Lucian Brockman took the new ball for Himley and grabbed the wicket of teammate Seth Essenhigh without scoring.
Cox then continued his excellent outing with the new ball, returning economical figures of 1-27, before Lategan swept through Himley with four wickets for just 14 runs in a clinical eight over spell.
Harry Darley returned excellent figures of 2-34 for Shrewsbury against Dorridge, with his side securing a valuable 45-run win at London Road, to see the seamer help his team leapfrog their rivals in the process.
In Premier Division Two, there was an entertaining contest between Shifnal and Kidderminster that saw Jack Home help his side to a three wicket win.
Kiddy batted first, posting 205-9 with Ben Gibbon (15) and youngster Ben Jones (27 from 26) chipping in, whilst Home recorded figures of 1-45 from his ten overs.
His best was yet to come however, with Home making a superb 88 from 87 balls, slamming eight fours and five sixes to steer his side home, despite losing his wicket to teammate Gibbon (3-41) and Academy star Jones helping himself to two wickets.
