Scoreboard Heritage Restoration Project to Begin Ahead of New Season

Published 20/02/2026

If you’ve spent time at New Road, then chances are the scoreboard at the Diglis End of the ground has been part of your matchday memories. Whether glimpsed on a walk around the Club or glanced up at during a tense match, it’s one of the ground’s most recognisable features and witness to decades of amazing cricketing moments.

As part of the Club’s ongoing investment in the wider matchday experience, the restoration of the historic scoreboard will soon begin. The intention is to preserve and refresh this much-loved building, ensuring it remains a familiar presence at the grounds for years to come.

At ground level, the space beneath the scoreboard will be carefully repurposed into a new Club shop, creating a dedicated spot for supporters to browse the Club’s kit and merchandise. It is a natural next step for a building that has always played a practical role on matchdays, and one that will keep this loved landmark at the heart of the visitor experience.

Supporters can also expect a smoother experience on busy matchdays, with innovations in the refreshed nearby Bennetts Ice Cream Food Village that feature an exciting range of vendors, such as pre-order alerts letting customers know when food and drink is ready for collection. Consequently, the changes will also open up the entire area for visitors, improving accessibility to the club shop and surrounding areas.

That means less queueing, more cricket, and more time to soak up the atmosphere on the day.

Work around the ground continues to evolve ahead of the new season, including the confirmed replacement of the scoreboard next to the Graeme Hick Pavilion, complete with a bigger screen and wider array of features.

The club will be working on the developments in partnership with renowned sports facilities management company, Stadium Support Services (SSS), who are joining the club as the new Official Project Partners.

SSS have operated for over 20 years, specialising in commercial fitouts, reactive maintenance and FM solutions in the sports and leisure sector.

Dedicated to supporting clients, the family-owned facilities management company are focussed on sustainability and contributing to local communities, with the recent partnership announcement marking another progressive step in the right direction for fan’s and the ever-evolving matchday experience.

Managing Director, Scott Hudson, expressed his excitement at joining the Worcestershire County Cricket Club journey heading into 2026 and beyond.

This partnership is about alignment. Worcestershire County Cricket Club operates in a high-performance, high-pressure environment where standards, safety and delivery matter – the same principles that underpin how we work.

“We’re proud to support the club both on and off the pitch this season and to be working with a team that shares our approach to professionalism, resilience and long-term thinking.”

Chief Revenue Officer at the club, Joe Tromans, said the partnership was driven by a desire to produce the best possible visitor experience.

“We are striving to consistently deliver the best visitor experience we can, on both matchdays and non-matchdays, and finding innovative ways to celebrate the unique heritage of new Road whilst improving the overall visitor experience, which is at the core of our strategy here at the club.

“Working with SSS and utilising their extensive experience in the sports sector is integral to finding innovative solutions to improve New Road. We look forward to working with them of the course of many years.”
