Worcestershire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that pace-bowler, Ben Gibbon, has re-committed his future to the club by signing a two-year deal.
25-year-old Gibbon, joined the club in 2022, signing his first professional deal having previously been on the books with Cheshire.
The left-armer debuted for the Pears in May 2022, against Durham, a match where he took two wickets in the first innings, instantly displaying his capabilities.
Despite having limited opportunities so far this season, the bowler is keen to kick on and break into the first team as a regular fixture, with his best still yet to come.
“I am absolutely delighted to be staying on at Worcestershire, this club has become home for me over the last couple of years.
“I am really keen to develop my skillset, and ultimately, get into a position to challenge for trophies with this team.
“When you start to get a taste for it, you want it more and more, and with so many of the lads becoming close mates of mine, I am keener than ever to grow as a player and make some memories with them.”
Men’s Head Coach, Alan Richardson, said Gibbon’s athletic nature and high ceiling make him a real prospect moving forward.
“Ben, has continued to grow and develop since joining the squad a couple of years ago, despite having limited opportunities in that time, he has shown his potential every time he has been called upon.
“He possesses some great qualities which provide our bowling attack with something slightly different.
“His height and his left-arm nature make him a real threat to batters at the crease, and we are excited about what he can achieve moving forward.”
To date, Gibbon, has 49 first-class wickets for the county, with best figures of 4-87 recorded against Glamorgan, during the 2022 campaign
