Morris “grateful Forever” For Support Of Mason And Co In Bowling Battle

Charlie Morris says he will "be grateful forever" to bowling coach Matt Mason and the Worcestershire CCC staff for helping him in his battle to again become a potent force.

The County paceman spent the majority of last summer working on his remodelled action after two seasons of success had yielded 96 County Championship wickets.

Mason and the other coaches spent many an hour helping the ever willing Morris – often through the lunch and tea intervals during games.

Morris said: How helpful has Matt Mason been? Mase, everyone, has been incredibly supportive, and for that I am enormously grateful.

"Without their support, it would have been an awful lot more of a tough process.

"I will always be thankful for that, the hours they put in, Mase, the support staff, helping me to get back to where I want to be.

"For that I will be hugely grateful forever."

Morris was part of the County squad for the pre-season camp in Abu Dhabi and finished with 2-83 from the match against The North in Dubai.

He says it is like starting all over again with everyone competing for places as the new season looms ever nearer.

He said: "I think realistically, I've got a lot to prove. I'm down the bottom of the pecking order at the minute – which is great for the club because we've got a lot of competition for places.

"That is what you want in a professional environment.

"I'm down the pecking order but that is only something I can fix and hopefully I can put my name in the hat to get back out on that field and do well for the club.

"The Abu Dhabi trip was a great opportunity out there to get cricket under your belt for the guys who have been stuck in Malvern!

"For the guys who have been away, it was good to get back and intergrate with the squad and stake your claim as we get ever closer to the first Championship match."
