Worcestershire Under-19s made their Northamptonshire counterparts fight all the way before going down by four wickets on the final day at Desborough Cricket Club.
Three more wickets for spinner Jujhar Johal took his tally to seven in the game after Northants were set a modest 144 target.
The game was in the balance at 104-6 but an unbroken stand of 40 between A. King and W. Heathfield tipped the game in favour of the home side.
Johal finished with 3-57 from 19 overs and match figures of 7-114 from 43.3 overs.
Worcestershire resumed on 143-8 and their last two wickets added 19 runs – one of them to spinner C. Haddow who ended with 5-39 from 27.4 overs.
When Northants launched their reply, Billy Cox and Adam Finch both picked up an early wicket.
Northants were well placed at 89-2 but then Johal enjoyed a hat-trick of successes as four wickets went down for 15 runs.
