More explosive hitting by Worcestershire Academy keeper-batter Seth Essenhigh earned the Midlands a five wicket win over South-West in an ECB Bunbury Festival T20 match at the National Performance Centre, Loughborough.
Essenhigh came to the wicket with the Midlands on 107-5 in the 17th over and still requiring a further 41 for victory.
But he raced to 33 not out from just 14 deliveries to see his side to victory with one ball to spare.
Essenhigh changed the course of the game in the penultimate over when 24 were still needed from just nine deliveries.
He struck the final three balls of the over from Rishabh Shimpi for 6-4-6 and then smashed the fifth legitimate delivery of the final over from O. Moore for another maximum to settle the issue.
He was given good support by Joshua Beer (28 not out) in an unbroken stand of 46 from only 3.1 overs.
Earlier, Worcestershire Emerging Players programme bowler Toby Cox had again made a sizeable impact.
He held onto a return catch to make the first breakthrough with 17 on the board in his second over with the new ball.
Cox came back into the attack to collect a second scalp and finished with 4-0-29-2 as South-West were restricted to 147-6 in their 20 overs.
