Moeen Up To 90 Test Wickets After Double Success In Rajkot

Moeen Ali moved onto the 90 wicket mark in Test cricket with a double breakthrough to help England into a first innings lead on day four of the first Test with India in Rajkot.

The Worcestershire all-rounder dismissed Wriddhiman Saha and Ravichandran Ashwin as India were bowled out for 488.

That earned England an advantage of 49 and by the close openers Alastair Cook (46) and Haseeb Hameed (62) had added an unbroken 114 in 37 overs.

Moeen ended with figures of 2-85 from 31 overs in a disciplined effort by the entire England attack.

He had to wait until his 27th over for his first success when Saha on 35 went for a cut and nicked through to keeper Jonny Bairstow at 425-7.

Moeen then wrapped up the innings when Ashwin (70) attacked a ball toss up on leg stump and holed out to Zafar Ansari at deep mid wicket.

It followed on from his first innings century which has now taken Moeen's run aggregate in Test cricket to 1663 at an average of 35.38.
